  • The surgeon should not have agreed to operate on her. The mental aspect of weight loss has to be conquered before, during, and after the physical aspects are addressed. This girl refused to stick to the pre-op liquid diet, because she wanted to eat the way she always has.

  • All the communal showering people remember from their school days has one glaring and HUGE difference from what Sandusky is accused of. Sandusky is accused of showering on many occasions ALONE with a pre-pubescent or adolescent boy. Alone. At night. In a locker room that was supposed to be deserted.

  • Have you read anything about this case? Sandusky retired in 1999, which by my math is TWELVE YEARS AGO. And he retired under a cloud of suspicion from the 1998 abuse allegations. Why not take his pension then? Why wait 12 years and take down JoePa too? Duh.

  •  It's pretty much a crapshoot. Many of my elderly relatives lived into their late 80s and 90s--one aunt made it to 101. Yet despite the evidence that my genes might predispose me to long life, I could get run over on my way home from work tonight and die at 33 instead.

  • I have to judge you just a little. You eat fish, so you aren't a vegetarian. You're an omnivore like the majority of the population. Unless you want to argue that eating fish doesn't require the death of the fish? It's pretty simple.

  • What's missing from this article is information on whether the subjects who lost quickly were able to keep it off. Watching someone's weight loss for 18 months doesn't tell you much. Repeatedly cited studies claim that most people regain any lost weight (regardless of method) within 5 years.
